Brazil

Partner despachante aduaneiro in Santos and São Paulo, with our advance review of the DUIMP.

Brazil is the only one of the six with a fourth channel. The grey channel does not examine the goods: it examines the suspicion, and above all the declared value. Landing there is not fixed by an amendment; it is fixed by a valuation file that should have been built before the goods shipped.

What decides the operation here

  • Parametrisation assigns green, yellow, red or grey. Grey is the one that holds cargo for months.
  • The DUIMP is progressively replacing the DI in the Single Window and changes how value is declared.
  • The NCM follows Mercosur, so classification carries across to Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, but not to the Colombian or Mexican nomenclature.
  • Clearance is signed by a registered despachante aduaneiro; we coordinate with ours and audit what is declared in your name.
Selectivity in Brazil

4 possible outcomes when the declaration is filed

Every country names its channels its own way, but the logic is the same: the system decides how much gets reviewed, and that drives the days in storage. These are the ones in Brazil.

Green channel

Automatic clearance, no verification.

Yellow channel

Document examination; clean, it releases.

Red channel

Document examination plus physical verification of the cargo.

Grey channel

Special procedure over suspected fraud, including on the declared price.

The operation does not end in Brazil
